About Us

About Us

We are professional appraisers with over twenty-five years experience and have been active in the appraisal profession as an educator, author, and practitioner.

Our appraisals conform to the standards of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) established by the Appraisal Foundation , as well as the technical and ethical requirements of the International Society of Appraisers (ISA).

Our practice is limited to appraisals of Fine Art, Decorative Arts, Antiques, select Collectibles, and Historical material.  For collections involving property in other fields or disciplines we work together with colleagues known to us who have equivalent expertise in their areas.

Our work has been recognized and accepted by insurance companies, museums, the Internal Revenue Service, courts of law, lending institutions, and others.

We have been privileged to undertake appraisal assignments for some of the most distinguished collectors and institutions in the country, but equally prize our relationship with the countless individual collectors we service.

We provide appraisals for a single object, or selected objects, or a house full, or corporate collections.

We travel to your location, and accept appointments to accommodate your schedule.

We provide objective, unbiased reports that are confidential.

We specialize in the appraisal of Fine Art and Antiques.
Each of our appraisers has their own expertise in various fields of study.
Our appraisers have received formal education and testing in appraisal studies, with specialized study in American and European, paintings, prints, sculpture, furniture, ceramics, pottery, porcelain, art glass, silver, oriental rugs, lamps, other decorative arts, books, manuscripts and more.
In addition to more than twenty-five years of experience, our appraisers are required to recertify with USPAP and attend continuing education courses in related study.
We maintain a large reference library that includes current international auction catalogs, specialized computer programs and services, and access to international databases containing millions of selling results. These resources on premises translate into a savings of both time and money.
In addition to traditional written appraisals for valuation, we can provide the following types of services:
  • Collections cataloged or inventoried.
  • Want list, hard-to-find items located.
  • Consultation services.
  • Assistance in identifying items of worth.
  • Verbal approximations of value.
  • Informational reports on artist or items.
  • Reports to aid with prospective purchase, or sale decisions, or claims.

Fees

All appraisal work is charged on an hourly or per diem basis, and is based on the time spent in examining the property, the research time involved, and in the preparation of the appraisal report. The appraisal fee is in no way related to the value of the object of the value appraised.
